When I was growing up, we had a couple of quilts around the house. I never really paid any attention to them, until one day, I noticed one. It was the same block repeating, but not one was the same. My grandmother made this scrappy quilt with old clothes. The colors were bright and happy.
I was fascinated, I could not stop looking at it. I was amazed that you could make your own blanket with the pattern and colors you want! I needed to make one! That is when my obsession with quilts started.
Sadly, my grandmother had passed away and my mom did not know how to make quilts. I did not know anyone that made quilts. So, this being before internet, I went to the library and took out all the books on quilting. From that moment on, I taught myself to quilt. It was a lot of trial and error and hard on my patience. But I did it. This was over 20 years ago and I am still obsessed.
This year I decided to make one of my dreams come true, I am taking a chance and starting my quilt pattern design business. Follow me along this journey as I struggle to start this business with a full-time job, three children and two cats to take care of!
